Windermere Circular 2nd June 2008

"Rain before seven fine before eleven". So it proved to be as a group of  9 of us set off by car from Carnforth in wetting drizzle but later walked through spring meadows in warm sunshine to a picnic lunch in the hills above Lake Windermere. Our 6 mile Intermediate walk, starting near  the ferry at Ash Landing, first meandered for nearly an hour along the wooded lake shore with superb coffee stops and views across the water. At Cunsey we struck inland on pleasant woodland paths through undulating countryside and after lunch completed the circuit with a brisk walk uphill close to Sawry with views over to the Langdales, then steeply back down to the ferry. Something for everyone here and a very pleasant day all round!
