Gift-aiding your Subscription to Lancaster & Morecambe U3A
On 6th April 2000 the Chancellor of the Exchequer launched the Gift Aid Scheme whereby, if you are a tax-payer and pay a sum of money to a charity, the Inland Revenue will refund to the charity the tax you paid on that amount.
Any members of the Lancaster & Morecambe U3A who pay tax can help the branch to take advantage of the scheme by Gift-aiding their normal annual subscription. All you have to do is sign the simple Gift Aid Declaration below and return it to -

NOTES (a) You must be a U.K. tax payer to take part in this scheme.
(b) If you are already Gift-Aiding money to other charities you must ensure that the total of income tax and/or capital gains tax which you pay in a year will cover the tax that the charities can reclaim on your donations.
(c) If you pay tax at the higher rate you can claim further tax relief in your Self-Assessment Tax Return.
