Place Fell - May fell walk

For the May fell walk, a good group set off  for Ullswater and Place Fell. Good walking conditions meant we got to the top relatively easily by the normal route via Boredale Hause. The panorama from the top was at its best. After lunch on the top we decided to take the long route back by going north down the easy slopes to the Lake and then returning round the shore path under Place Fell. Lots of ups and downs with good views on a warm afternoon. Refreshments and ice cream at the farm and then back across the fields to the cars. This made it quite a long but outstanding walk and it was later than usual by we got back to Carnforth. Excellent views and no wet ground at any stage so we were all happy with our day.
