Friday Over Kellet

In spite of off-putting weather reports, November's public transport walk took place on a fine day starting beneath beautiful blue skies. After travelling by bus from Lancaster, we set off up the fields from Over Kellet with lovely views across the area. Negotiating our way along logs which had been provided as a route over mud proved to be not too difficult.  We then followed a semi-circular route past the large quarry, firstly on a woodland path past trees with colourful autumn leaves down to the roadside and then along a wide grassy track to reach a green lane. After descending to Nether Kellet, we enjoyed a welcome break for tea/coffee and cakes in the church hall. Continuing through the village and over the motorway bridge, our walk then took us up the bridleway down across fields and through woodland to the canal towpath. This we followed through Bolton le Sands to the swing bridge. After crossing the main road, we followed a field path which took us over ditches and over the railway to the shore. The last section of the route was along the coastal path, finishing at Bare.
