Friday - Kent's Bank to Grange

7th January 2011

It was a day of real winter weather for our January public transport walk. Large snow flakes heralded our arrival at Kents Bank station, but undeterred we set off up the hill and along the Cumbria Coastal Way. The settling snow made everywhere look pretty as we made our way through the village of Allithwaite. After a coffee stop in the fields, we continued up to reach the lane and walk the paths through Grange Fell cemetery. Our route then followed the lane running below Hampsfell, passing farms and then above the woodland. Eventually we made our way into Eggerslack Woods and across a little stream to finish in Grange over Sands, where we had time for refreshments before our train journey back to Lancaster.
